Pharmacy Technician - Boston, MA

An established healthcare organization is seeking skilled Pharmacy Technicians to join their team in a remote, temp-to-hire capacity. This opportunity allows candidates from any location to apply, provided they hold the PTCB certification.

Location: Remote
Schedule:

• Monday to Friday: 11:30 AM 8:00 PM ET and 9:30 AM 6:00 PM ET (shifts)
• Weekends: Mandatory rotating schedule
• Contract duration: October 1, 2026 March 31, 2027
• Note: No days off from January 1, 2027, to March 31, 2027, except for emergencies

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and process prior authorization requests following established policies and decision trees
• Triage and enter incoming prior authorization requests from provider offices
• Support Medicare Part B medication prior authorizations and preferred product strategies
• Contact providers and hospitals to obtain clinical documentation required for authorizations
• Communicate authorization decisions and follow up with providers and members as needed
• Assist members and providers when alternative treatment options are necessary
• Provide operational support to Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists, and Physicians to ensure timely and accurate decisions
• Serve as a liaison for internal teams, external providers, and operational partners
• Support offshore clinical partners involved in utilization management pharmacy workflows
• Interpret plan benefits and enter specialty pharmacy overrides for proper claim adjudication

Desired Qualifications:

• PTCB certification required
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Experience with Medicare Part B operations, particularly utilization management, prior authorizations, medical benefits, or pharmacy help desk functions
• Familiarity with working with the Medicare population
• Strong computer proficiency, including navigating multiple systems and Google Workspace/G Suite
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Prior experience in utilization management and prior authorization is strongly preferred
