Outpatient Retail Pharmacy Technician in Cicero, IL

An outpatient pharmacy technician role is available in a hospital outpatient setting, offering a contract-to-hire opportunity with day shifts from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. This position utilizes the Pioneer RX computer system and is based in a convenient location.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately process medication orders or prescriptions, including proper packaging and dispensing of pre-manufactured dosage forms.
• Utilize pharmacy systems and follow policies related to cart fill, unit dose distribution, medication preparation and labeling, controlled substances reconciliation, and pharmaceutical purchasing.
• Support pharmacists by assisting in patient, physician, and nursing education.
• Aid in retrieving accurate and timely drug information to support clinical decisions.
• Collect patient-specific data for pharmacists to design, implement, monitor, evaluate, and adjust pharmacotherapy plans, including screening for IV to oral conversions, renal dosing, allergies, and non-formulary prescriptions.
• Obtain clinical pharmacokinetic data such as creatinine clearance calculations to assist in the development of effective and safe therapeutic medication regimens.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year pharmacy technician experience.
• Experience working in a hospital outpatient pharmacy environment.
• Familiarity with pharmacy insurance claims processes.
• Valid Illinois pharmacy technician license.
