Retail Pharmacy Technician | Columbus, Ohio
Support complex patient care in a retail pharmacy setting that specializes in managing medication regimens for individuals taking 8-15 medications daily. This role demands patience, exceptional communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of commonly prescribed medications. Candidates with specialty retail pharmacy experience are highly preferred to help navigate the detailed needs of patients with chronic conditions.
Location: Columbus, OH
Type: Contract (8 weeks, with potential for contract-to-hire)
Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM5:00 PM (no weekends)
Responsibilities:
- Assist with accurate dispensing and management of medications for patients with complex, chronic health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with a diverse patient population, including Medicare/Medicaid recipients and low-income individuals, many with low literacy levels.
- Utilize or learn Pioneer Rx software to process prescriptions and maintain accurate patient records.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Pharmacy Technician certification with retail pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, especially when supporting patients in advanced stages of chronic illnesses.
- Experience working with specialty retail populations is a significant advantage.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive patient interactions with patience and empathy.
- Resume should explicitly highlight experience with chronic disease patient care.
