Retail Pharmacy Technician | Columbus, Ohio

An opportunity is available for an experienced Retail Pharmacy Technician in Columbus, OH. This Contract to Hire position requires a candidate with strong communication skills and a solid understanding of retail pharmacy operations, especially for patients managing complex medication regimens.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately prepare and dispense medications for patients with complex health profiles, often taking 8-15 medications daily.
• Communicate effectively and patiently with patients, many of whom have chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, or multiple sclerosis.
• Assist in managing a patient population primarily consisting of Medicare/Medicaid and low-income individuals with varying literacy levels, demonstrating compassion and understanding.
• Utilize pharmacy software to process prescriptions and maintain records. Prior experience with Pioneer Rx is preferred but training is available.
• Operate within a specialty retail pharmacy setting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Proven experience as a retail pharmacy technician, preferably in specialty retail pharmacy.
• Strong knowledge of commonly prescribed medications (top 200-400 drugs).
• Exceptional patient communication skills, with the ability to work with chronically ill and underserved populations.
• Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with no weekend shifts.
• Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) is preferred but not required.
