Retail Outpatient Pharmacy Tech - Evanston, Illinois

This position is for a Pharmacy Technician in an outpatient pharmacy setting, offering a contract-to-hire opportunity with day shifts from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. The role requires proficiency in the Pioneer RX computer system and experience in hospital outpatient pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately process medication orders and prescriptions; package and dispense pre-manufactured dosage forms.
• Utilize proper techniques for storage, preparation, and dispensing per health system policies, including cart fill, unit dose distribution, medication preparation, labeling, controlled substances reconciliation, and pharmaceutical purchasing.
• Support pharmacists with patient, physician, and nursing education efforts.
• Assist pharmacists in retrieving timely, accurate, and relevant drug information.
• Collect patient-specific data to aid pharmacists in optimizing pharmacotherapy, including monitoring for IV to oral conversions, renal dosing adjustments, allergies, and non-formulary prescribing.
• Obtain clinical pharmacokinetic data to help design safe and effective medication regimens, including calculating creatinine clearance when appropriate.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician experience.
• Experience in a hospital outpatient pharmacy environment.
• Familiarity with pharmacy insurance claims processing.
• Valid Illinois pharmacy technician license.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
