Support a leading health systems outpatient pharmacy team as a Certified Pharmacy Technician focused on prior authorizations. This role involves critical prescription review and authorization tasks that ensure patients receive timely access to necessary medications. You will work closely under pharmacist supervision to manage prior authorization requests efficiently, combining clinical insight with strong organizational skills.

Assignment Type: Local Contract Temp-to-Hire
Schedule:

  • MondayFriday
  • 8:00 AM5:00 PM
  • 40 guaranteed hours per week
    Work Arrangement: Onsite training (812 weeks), then fully remote

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and complete prior authorization forms specific to pharmacy benefit managers
  • Review and transfer prescription, prescriber, and patient data from electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Analyze patient charts and clinical documentation to support authorization requests
  • Submit and track prior authorization submissions within required timeframes
  • Communicate authorization outcomes to pharmacy and clinical teams promptly
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of all prior authorization workflows
  • Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, providers, and outpatient pharmacy staff
  • Utilize ICD-10 codes, drug reference materials, and disease-specific resources accurately
  • Meet departmental productivity and quality benchmarks
  • Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office and remote work technologies

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification mandatory
  • Minimum three years of pharmacy technician experience
  • 35 years of high-volume retail pharmacy experience strongly preferred
  • At least one year of direct prior authorization experience required
  • Experience working with electronic medical records
  • Strong data entry, communication, organizational, and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work independently in a metric-driven environment
  • Professional, dependable, and focused on delivering high-quality patient care
