Retail Pharmacy Technician | Salem, Virginia

This opportunity is ideal for a certified retail pharmacy technician seeking a contract role within a mail order pharmacy setting. The position involves processing prescription orders, managing insurance adjudication, handling daily pharmacy operations, and assisting with medication preparation and shipping.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret sig codes and accurately process prescription refills
• Perform data entry and insurance verifications, resolve rejections effectively
• Prepare, label, and package medications for pharmacist approval
• Maintain inventory through cycle counts and manage returns
• Handle inbound and outbound patient and prescriber communications
• Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and CCS protocols
• Report directly to the Operations Manager, Pharmacy

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• 1-2+ years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail environment
• Active Virginia state pharmacy technician license and PTCB certification
• Strong communication skills coupled with excellent multitasking and time management abilities

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Location: Salem, VA (with work based primarily in Roanoke, VA area)

This contract role spans 13 weeks with an immediate start date available. Candidates must demonstrate a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
