Retail Pharmacy Technician - Salem, Virginia

Support advanced at-home chronic care management in a mail order pharmacy setting with a contract opportunity as a Pharmacy Technician III. This role provides a vital link in processing prescription orders efficiently and accurately, ensuring patients receive their medications with care and precision.

Position Overview:

• Location: Salem, VA
• Employment Type: Contract/Temporary (13 weeks)
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• Start Date: Immediate availability needed
• Setting: Mail order pharmacy
• Reporting to: Operations Manager, Pharmacy

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately interpret sig codes, select appropriate products, and process prescription refills
• Perform insurance verification, data entry, and resolve claim rejections
• Prepare, label, and package medications for pharmacist review and approval
• Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and manage returns
• Manage inbound and outbound calls from patients and prescribers with professionalism
• Comply with HIPAA regulations, Medicare/Medicaid standards, and organizational protocols

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required
• 1-2+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Active Virginia pharmacy technician license and PTCB certification required
• Proven ability to communicate effectively while multitasking and managing time efficiently
