Pharmacy Technician | Salem, Virginia

A Certified Pharmacy Technician is needed for a contract assignment in an office setting in Roanoke, VA. This opportunity offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., spanning at least 13 weeks with potential for extension or conversion to temp-to-hire. The role is scheduled to start approximately two weeks after the offer is accepted.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process prescriptions accurately, handle insurance adjudications, and resolve claim rejections efficiently.
• Prepare, package, and label medications for pharmacist verification, ensuring safety and accuracy.
• Perform data entry, manage prescription paperwork, and maintain clear communication with patients and prescribers.
• Maintain accurate inventory records through daily cycle counts, restocking, and reviewing medication expirations.
• Assist with returns, medication quarantines, and destruction procedures in compliance with regulations.
• Cross-train across various pharmacy functions to support department needs as required.
• Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and insurance regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• Must hold registration as a pharmacy technician in the State of Virginia and possess a national certification such as PTCB, NHA, or ExCPT.
• Minimum of 2+ years recent pharmacy technician experience (retail, closed door, mail order, or long-term care settings; hospital experience is excluded).
• Education level clearly stated on the resume (high school diploma, GED, Bachelors degree, etc.).
• Local candidates preferred to facilitate collaboration and onboarding.
