Outpatient Pharmacy Technician - Upper Darby, Pennsylvania
An experienced Certified Pharmacy Technician is needed to support a prescription prior authorization team within a prominent health systems outpatient pharmacies. This role involves working closely under the guidance of a registered pharmacist to process prior authorization requests effectively and efficiently.
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM5:00 PM
Hours: 40 guaranteed hours per week
Assignment Type: Local Contract, 13 weeks
Work Arrangement: Onsite training for approximately 812 weeks, followed by fully remote work
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and complete the appropriate pharmacy benefit manager prior authorization forms
- Accurately review and transfer prescription, prescriber, and patient information from electronic medical records (EMR)
- Analyze patient charts and clinical documentation to support authorization requests
- Submit and monitor prior authorizations within specified timelines
- Communicate approvals, denials, and outstanding requests to pharmacy and clinical teams professionally
- Maintain thorough documentation of all prior authorization activity
- Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, and outpatient pharmacy personnel
- Utilize ICD-10 codes, drug information, and disease-specific resources with precision
- Meet departmental productivity and quality standards consistently
- Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and remote-work technologies
Desired Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification mandatory
- Minimum of three years experience as a pharmacy technician
- Strong preference for three to five years of high-volume retail pharmacy experience
- At least one year of prior authorization experience required
- Proficient with electronic medical records and strong data-entry skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and follow-up capabilities
- Ability to work independently in a metric-driven, fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care
