Pharmacy Technician - Vinton, Virginia

A Certified Pharmacy Technician position is available in an office setting with a contract duration of 13 weeks, with the possibility of extension or transition to hire. This role is based in Roanoke, VA, and follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The anticipated start date is approximately two weeks after the offer is accepted.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process prescriptions efficiently, including insurance adjudications and resolving rejections.
• Prepare, package, and label medications for pharmacist verification.
• Perform accurate data entry, manage prescription paperwork, and maintain clear communication with patients and prescribers.
• Maintain and manage inventory through daily cycle counts, restocking, and reviewing expiration dates.
• Assist with medication returns, quarantines, and proper destruction procedures.
• Cross-train in multiple pharmacy functions to support departmental needs.
• Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and insurance regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Education level must be specified on the resume (High School diploma, GED, Bachelors degree, etc.).
• Registered pharmacy technician credential in the State of Virginia is required.
• National certification (PTCB, NHA, or Excpt) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 2+ years of recent experience as a pharmacy technician in retail, closed-door, mail order, or long-term care settings (no hospital experience).
• Candidates must be local to the area.
