Pharmacy Technician - Waltham, MA
An opportunity is available for experienced Pharmacy Technicians to support remote pharmacy operations with a focus on prior authorization and Medicare Part B medication management. This temp-to-hire position offers the flexibility of working from anywhere, requiring a valid PTCB certification and a solid background in pharmacy technician duties related to utilization management.
Location:
- Remote (open to candidates from all locations)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday: 11:30 AM 8:00 PM ET and 9:30 AM 6:00 PM ET shifts
- Mandatory rotating weekends
- No days off permitted from 01/01/2027 to 03/31/2027 unless emergency
Duration:
- 6-month contract from October 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027

Core Responsibilities:
- Review and process prior authorization requests following established protocols and decision trees
- Manage incoming prior authorization requests from healthcare providers
- Support Medicare Part B medication prior authorizations and preferred product utilization
- Liaise with provider offices and hospitals to obtain necessary clinical documentation
- Communicate authorization decisions and follow-up with providers and members
- Assist in identifying alternative treatment options when required
- Provide operational support to pharmacy staff and healthcare providers to ensure timely decision-making
- Act as a point of contact for internal teams, external providers, and operational partners
- Support offshore clinical partners in utilization management pharmacy workflows
- Interpret plan benefits and manage specialty pharmacy overrides to ensure proper claim processing
Qualifications:
- Current PTCB certification required
- Minimum of 3 years pharmacy technician experience
- Experience with Medicare Part B operations including utilization management, prior authorizations, or help desk support strongly preferred
- Experience working with the Medicare population
- Proficiency with multiple computer systems and Google Workspace/G Suite
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
