This role offers an opportunity to apply your expertise in pharmacy within a specialized long-term care (LTC) and mail order environment. You will work varied shifts that include weekdays and weekends, ensuring consistent patient care over the 13-week contract duration.

Location: Andover, MN
Schedule:

  • Variable weekday shifts: 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM / 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM / 11:00 AM - 8:30 PM (rotating weekly)
  • Weekend shifts (Saturday-Sunday): 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications according to legal and safety standards.
  • Monitor patient medication compliance, tracking over-usage and ensuring appropriate medication management.
  • Verify that prescribed medications are suitable and counsel patients on medication use, possible side effects, and answer any questions.
  • Maintain confidential patient records with precision and ensure proper management of pharmacy files.
  • Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on correct usage and handling of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
  • Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following strict protocols.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to maintain smooth pharmacy operations.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve medication-related issues.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
  • Current Minnesota Pharmacy license.
  • Experience in long-term care pharmacy is highly preferred.
  • IV compounding experience is a plus but not mandatory.
