Long Term Care Mail Order Staff Pharmacist in Andover, MN
This role offers an opportunity to apply your expertise in pharmacy within a specialized long-term care (LTC) and mail order environment. You will work varied shifts that include weekdays and weekends, ensuring consistent patient care over the 13-week contract duration.
Location: Andover, MN
Schedule:
- Variable weekday shifts: 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM / 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM / 11:00 AM - 8:30 PM (rotating weekly)
- Weekend shifts (Saturday-Sunday): 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications according to legal and safety standards.
- Monitor patient medication compliance, tracking over-usage and ensuring appropriate medication management.
- Verify that prescribed medications are suitable and counsel patients on medication use, possible side effects, and answer any questions.
- Maintain confidential patient records with precision and ensure proper management of pharmacy files.
- Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on correct usage and handling of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following strict protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to maintain smooth pharmacy operations.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve medication-related issues.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- Current Minnesota Pharmacy license.
- Experience in long-term care pharmacy is highly preferred.
- IV compounding experience is a plus but not mandatory.
