Long Term Care Mail Order Staff Pharmacist in Anoka, MN
This opportunity offers a 13-week contract for a Staff Pharmacist role supporting a Long Term Care (LTC) mail order pharmacy environment. The position features variable weekday shifts with weekend hours, designed to provide coverage throughout the week.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday: shifts vary weekly between 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM, 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM, or 11:00 AM - 8:30 PM
- Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal standards.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and detect overuse to ensure proper treatment.
- Assess the suitability of prescribed medicines for patients.
- Maintain precise, confidential patient records and pharmacy files.
- Counsel patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer questions.
- Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, and drug interactions.
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications, including preparation of sterile solutions following established procedures.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
- Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Identify drug-related problems and collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to resolve them.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- Valid Minnesota Pharmacy license.
- Experience in long term care pharmacy is highly desirable.
- IV compounding experience is a plus but not mandatory.
