A pharmacy position is available focused on long-term care and mail order pharmacy services, offering a contract to hire opportunity. The role demands a dedicated pharmacist to manage and oversee medication dispensing while ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Location:

  • Arden, NC

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Four 10-hour shifts per week (options: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM)
  • 13-week contract with potential for direct hire

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications.
  • Monitor patient medication adherence and detect patterns of overuse.
  • Ensure medication supply complies with legal standards.
  • Verify appropriateness of prescribed medications for each patient.
  • Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files meticulously.
  • Advise patients on medication usage, possible side effects, and answer related questions.
  • Provide consultation on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage and drug interactions.
  • Deliver patient-focused services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on correct use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications for both external and internal use, adhering to sterile preparation procedures.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
  • Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
  • Identify and communicate drug-related problems to physicians and healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacy interns, and other team members.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience required.
  • Experience in Long Term Care and Mail Order pharmacy settings is highly desirable.
  • Sterile compounding experience is a plus.
  • Must hold a valid North Carolina pharmacy license.
