A contract-to-hire opportunity is available for a pharmacist with experience in long-term care and mail order pharmacy operations. This role operates Monday through Friday with four 10-hour day shifts (9am7pm or 10am8pm), providing a focused schedule over a 13-week period, leading to potential permanent placement.

Location: Asheville, NC
Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Four 10-hour shifts
  • 9:00 am 7:00 pm or 10:00 am 8:00 pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor patient medication adherence and detect over-usage trends.
  • Ensure all medication supplies comply with legal requirements.
  • Verify the suitability of prescribed medications for patients.
  • Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation with accuracy.
  • Provide detailed medication counseling, including administration instructions, potential side effects, and answering patient inquiries.
  • Offer consultations on both prescription and over-the-counter medications, covering storage, dosages, side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation guidance, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on proper use and care of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications for internal and external use, including preparation of sterile solutions following established protocols.
  • Supervise pharmacy support staff such as technicians and clerks to ensure efficient pharmacy operations.
  • Monitor pharmaceutical and medical supply inventories and maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Identify potential drug-related issues and collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to optimize patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy experience required.
  • Experience in Long Term Care and/or Mail Order pharmacy is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in sterile compounding techniques considered a plus.
  • Must hold a valid North Carolina pharmacy license.
