Managed Care Consulting Staff Pharmacist in Baton Rouge, LA

A telehealth opportunity is available for a pharmacist with expertise in Medication Therapy Management (MTM) consulting. This remote position supports a growing telepharmacy service currently active in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, with plans to expand to 3040 states by October.

This contract role spans 13 weeks with an anticipated October start, focusing on virtual patient consultations, utilization management, and provider collaboration. Pharmacists will conduct Comprehensive Medication Reviews (CMRs) and Targeted Medication Reviews (TMRs), address therapy-related concerns, and improve medication adherence. Additional duties include evaluating prior authorizations, recommending formulary-aligned alternatives, and proactive outreach to members with gaps in care.

Multi-state licensure is essential, with a minimum of five active pharmacist licenses preferred. Licenses from states including Louisiana, Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, New Jersey, Iowa, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, Arkansas, Kansas, Maine, Montana, Oklahoma, Virginia, and Wyoming are valuable. Those licensed in Louisiana will have additional opportunities to engage in hub work steadying full-time employment potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct telephonic or video CMRs and TMRs to enhance patient therapy and adherence
• Evaluate drug utilization and prior authorization requests according to clinical guidelines
• Collaborate with providers to suggest cost-effective, formulary-compliant alternatives
• Identify and outreach to patients and providers to close care gaps
• Support formulary rules coding and review secondary claims data
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, telepharmacy regulations, and contractual requirements

Qualifications:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
• Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in assigned states; minimum five licenses preferred
• 2+ years clinical pharmacy experience, preferably in PBM, managed care, or telehealth environments
• Strong knowledge of chronic disease management, drug utilization reviews, and formulary processes
• Proficient in telehealth platforms, electronic health records, and PBM claims systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for patient and provider interaction
