Long Term Care Staff Pharmacist in Butler, PA
This opportunity is for a skilled Long Term Care Pharmacist providing vital pharmaceutical services for skilled nursing facilities, personal care facilities, and hospice care. The role is a contract position based in Butler, PA, offering a 1-month initial assignment with potential for extension.
Schedule/Hours:
- 40 hours per week
- Pharmacy hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM 6:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM 4:00 PM, Sunday 8:00 AM 3:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify medication orders entered by data entry technicians for various care settings
- Check blister-packed medications as well as sterile and non-sterile drug preparations
- Communicate with nursing facility staff, hospice nurses, and physicians to answer clinical questions
- Accurately count controlled substances and document findings in the perpetual inventory
- Inspect emergency medication boxes to ensure readiness and compliance
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Pharmacy
- Registered and licensed pharmacist in Pennsylvania, with a good professional standing
- Minimum of 1 year of pharmacist experience; Long Term Care experience preferred
- Physical ability to sit, stand, use fine motor skills, and have visual acuity required for accuracy
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with pharmacy operating systems including QS1, Docutrack, and PCC
