Long Term Care Staff Pharmacist in Butler, PA
This opportunity is ideal for a licensed pharmacist with a focus on long-term care, offering a rewarding assignment supporting skilled nursing, personal care, and hospice facilities. The role involves critical checking of medication orders, managing control substances, and providing clinical consultation to healthcare professionals.
Location: Butler, PA
Type: Contract (1 month ongoing with possible extension; 8-week contracts considered)
Schedule:
- 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM 3:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify medication orders entered by data entry technicians for various long-term care settings
- Check packaged medications, including blister-packed, sterile, and non-sterile preparations
- Respond to phone inquiries from nursing facilities, hospice nurses, and physicians, providing accurate clinical guidance
- Count and document controlled substances in the perpetual inventory system
- Inspect emergency medication boxes for accuracy and completeness
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Pharmacy
- Active pharmacist license in the state of Pennsylvania, in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year of pharmacist experience, preferably in long-term care (LTC)
- Strong attention to detail with good standing physical capabilities, including sitting, standing, fine motor skills, visual acuity, and ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Familiarity with operating systems such as QS1, Docutrack, and PCC
