A rewarding opportunity is available for a pharmacist skilled in long-term care and mail order pharmacy settings. This contract-to-hire role offers a 13-week initial assignment with the potential for direct hire, providing a path to stable employment while gaining valuable experience.

Location: Candler, NC
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 4 shifts per week with 10-hour days
Shift Options: 9:00 AM 7:00 PM or 10:00 AM 8:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor patient medication compliance and identify patterns of over-usage.
  • Ensure all medications dispensed comply with legal standards and are appropriate for patients.
  • Maintain confidential, accurate patient records and pharmacy files.
  • Provide expert guidance to patients on medication use, possible reactions, and answer any related questions.
  • Offer consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, covering dosage, storage, side effects, and interactions.
  • Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on the proper use and care of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications for both internal and external purposes and prepare sterile solutions following strict procedures.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including pharmacy technicians and clerks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels for pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and pharmacy interns to identify and resolve drug-related issues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy experience required.
  • Experience in Long Term Care and Mail Order pharmacy settings is highly desirable.
  • Sterile compounding experience is a plus.
  • Active North Carolina pharmacy license required.
