Hospital Retail Staff Pharmacist - Denham Springs, LA
This opportunity seeks a skilled Pharmacist specializing in Medication Therapy Management (MTM) to support specialty MTM needs in a full-time capacity. The position is available onsite or remote but requires a Louisiana Pharmacist license and at least five additional state licenses from an approved list. The initial assignment is a 13-week contract with the possibility for direct hire.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense drug orders accurately following physician requests and established protocols.
- Interpret verbal and written prescriptions and document medication profiles in the pharmacy system.
- Maintain complete and precise patient medication profiles and records.
- Dispense pharmaceuticals, including controlled substances, adhering to legal and safety standards.
- Ensure drug therapy regimens are safe, appropriate, and cost-effective while monitoring for contraindications and interactions.
- Detect and report adverse drug reactions in a timely manner.
- Provide clinical consultations and recommend therapeutic alternatives to medical staff as needed.
- Document all clinical interventions thoroughly and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Supervise pharmacy support personnel, verify their daily activities, and assist with performance appraisals.
- Organize and prioritize workload to ensure timely pharmacy service delivery.
- Conduct medication storage area inspections, ensuring removal of outdated or unusable drugs.
- Professionally handle phone and in-person requests.
Qualifications:
- Current Louisiana pharmacist license required.
- Minimum of five additional pharmacist licenses from the following states: Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, New Jersey, Iowa, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, Arkansas, Kansas, Maine, Montana, Oklahoma, Virginia, Wyoming.
- Prior retail or hospital pharmacy experience essential.
- Ability to obtain a total of 10 additional state licenses (excluding Louisiana) within 18 months in the role.
- Strong attention to detail, clinical judgment, and ability to work independently.
This role is not related to remote surge coverage and demands ongoing commitment to specialty MTM services.
