Hospital Retail Staff Pharmacist | Denham Springs, Louisiana

This opportunity invites a licensed pharmacist with expertise in medication therapy management to support specialty MTM services on a contract-to-hire basis. The role centers on safe, effective patient-centered pharmacy care, combining clinical consultation with operational responsibilities.

Location: Denham Springs, LA
Type: Contract to Hire
Duration: 13 weeks with potential extension or direct hire
Shift: 8.5-hour shift with 30-minute lunch, typically starting between 7:00 and 8:30 a.m. CT (dependent on remote location)

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with physician orders, policies, and protocols.
• Interpret and transcribe prescriptions accurately into patient medication profiles.
• Monitor patient drug therapies for safety, appropriateness, and potential interactions.
• Provide clinical consultation and suggest cost-effective therapeutic alternatives.
• Document all clinical interventions and ensure compliance with legal requirements for controlled substances.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and supervise pharmacy support personnel.
• Perform medication storage inspections and manage inventory to replace outdated drugs.
• Deliver professional patient service including answering queries via phone and window.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Active pharmacist license in Louisiana required.
• Licensure in two or more of the following states preferred: Indiana (IN), Pennsylvania (PA), Connecticut (CT), Wyoming (WY).
• Additional preference for licensure in CA, MN, MO, NM, SC, and/or GA.
• Prior retail or hospital pharmacy experience is required.
• Experience in Medication Therapy Management within specialty pharmacy environments is highly valued.
