Inpatient Oncology Staff Pharmacist | Des Plaines, Illinois
A clinical inpatient hospital pharmacist role is available on a 13-week contract with possible extension. This position involves rotating first and second shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment, providing essential pharmacy services to support patient care.
Shift Schedule:
- Rotating 1st shift: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM
- Rotating 2nd shift: 2:30 PM 10:00 PM
- Rotating weekends
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense and verify medications for inpatient hospital units, ensuring accuracy and patient safety
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize pharmacotherapeutic treatments, especially in oncology cases
- Utilize the Cerner system for prescription processing, documentation, and medication management
- Participate in clinical rounds to provide expert pharmaceutical guidance and support patient outcomes
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and Illinois pharmacy laws
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Illinois licensed pharmacist with strong inpatient clinical pharmacy background
- Experience working in hospital inpatient settings, particularly with oncology patients preferred
- Proficiency with the Cerner electronic medical record system highly desirable
- Ability to adapt to rotating shift schedules and weekend coverage
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills in clinical environments
