Consulting Managed Care Staff Pharmacist - Gonzales, Louisiana
This role offers an opportunity to provide telehealth medication therapy management (MTM) consulting services as a multi-state licensed pharmacist. The position is a 13-week remote contract starting in October, supporting a growing telepharmacy service expanding into 30 to 40 states by fall. Candidates must hold at least five active pharmacist licenses from the specified states, with Louisiana licensure highly preferred to secure more ongoing assignments from the hub.
Key responsibilities include conducting virtual comprehensive medication reviews (CMRs) and targeted medication reviews (TMRs) via phone or video to improve patient adherence and address therapy concerns. You will evaluate prior authorization requests, formulary exceptions, and step-therapy limits to ensure compliance with clinical guidelines. Collaboration with prescribers through secure messaging or calls is essential to recommend cost-effective, formulary-aligned alternatives. Proactive outreach will be required to identify members with gaps in care and coordinate with healthcare providers to optimize therapy. Additional duties involve supporting formulary coding for PBM claims adjudication and maintaining compliance with HIPAA and telepharmacy regulations during documentation.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree
- Active, unrestricted pharmacist licenses in a minimum of five states from the designated list, with multi-state licensure preferred
- At least 2 years of clinical pharmacy experience, ideally in PBM, managed care, or telehealth environments
- Strong knowledge of chronic disease management, drug utilization review, and formulary navigation
- Proficiency with telehealth platforms, EHRs, and PBM claims software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for patient and provider interactions
Location: Remote, with Louisiana as the primary hub for continued work opportunities.
This contract role requires availability for November through early the following year, with potential repeat assignments in spring and summer. Candidates licensed in Louisiana and multiple other states have the best chance for extended full-time engagement.
