Hospital Retail Staff Pharmacist in Gonzales, LA

A full-time Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Pharmacist opportunity is available, focused on specialty MTM services. This position offers a 13-week contract with potential for direct hire. The role supports pharmacy operations either onsite or remotely and requires a Louisiana pharmacist license plus a minimum of 5 additional state licenses from an approved list (including Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, and others).

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and dispense medication orders according to physician requests and established protocols.
• Accurately interpret prescriptions and maintain complete patient medication profiles.
• Dispense pharmaceuticals and controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor drug therapies for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Identify and report adverse drug reactions promptly.
• Provide clinical consultation to healthcare practitioners, recommending cost-effective therapeutic alternatives.
• Document all clinical interventions and activities thoroughly.
• Participate in quality improvement and medication use review processes.
• Supervise pharmacy support staff and verify daily technician activities.
• Organize and prioritize workload to ensure timely pharmacy services.
• Conduct medication storage inspections and manage outdated or unusable drugs.
• Professionally handle communication with patients and healthcare providers.

Qualifications:

• Current Louisiana pharmacist license is required.
• Additional state licenses from at least 5 of the following: Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, New Jersey, Iowa, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, Arkansas, Kansas, Maine, Montana, Oklahoma, Virginia, Wyoming.
• Prior experience in retail or hospital pharmacy settings.
• Commitment to obtaining up to 10 additional state licenses (beyond Louisiana) within 18 months.
• Strong knowledge of medication therapy management in a specialty environment.
