Schedule: Full-Time | 15-Week Contract (with potential for direct hire)
Shift: MondayFriday 9:00am6:00pm | Some Saturdays 9:00am6:00pm
We are seeking a licensed Pharmacist to support a Long-Term Care and Mail Order pharmacy operation. This role offers the opportunity to step into a fast-paced clinical environment with potential for long-term placement.
Position Overview
The Pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of medications to patients in skilled nursing, long-term care, and related healthcare settings. This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with healthcare providers and pharmacy staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Accept, review, and dispense prescription medications accurately
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify potential overuse patterns
- Ensure all medication supply and dispensing practices comply with applicable laws and regulations
- Verify appropriateness of prescribed medications for patients
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and pharmacy files
- Counsel patients on proper medication use, side effects, and drug interactions
- Provide consultation on prescription and OTC medications, including storage and dosage guidance
- Educate patients on medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
- Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding as needed
- Supervise pharmacy technicians, clerks, and support staff
- Maintain proper inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies
- Identify and resolve drug-related problems in coordination with physicians and healthcare providers
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to ensure optimal patient care
- Provide additional clinical services such as smoking cessation support and basic health monitoring (blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.)
Requirements
- Active North Carolina Pharmacist license in good standing
- Prior pharmacy experience required
- Long-Term Care (LTC) experience preferred
- Strong clinical communication and patient counseling skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced LTC / mail order environment
