Long Term Care Mail Order Staff Pharmacist - Hendersonville, NC

A pharmacist opportunity is available in Hendersonville, NC, supporting a long-term care and mail order pharmacy environment. This role operates under a contract-to-hire arrangement, offering a 13-week introductory period with the potential for direct hire. The position follows a weekday schedule with four 10-hour shifts, with hours from either 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
• Monitor patient medication compliance, identifying issues like over-usage.
• Ensure all medication supplies meet legal requirements.
• Verify that prescribed medications are appropriate for each patient.
• Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation.
• Educate and advise patients on medication use, side effects, and drug interactions.
• Provide additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
• Instruct patients on proper use and handling of medical devices, including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications for internal and external use and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols.
• Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
• Manage inventory of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to address drug-related patient issues effectively.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one year pharmacy experience required.
• Experience in long-term care and mail order pharmacy preferred.
• Sterile compounding skills are a plus.
• Must hold a valid North Carolina pharmacy license.
