LTC Mail Order Staff Pharmacist - Irving, Texas
This position offers an opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to work a 2nd shift schedule (3:30 pm 12 am), Monday through Friday with rotating weekends, in a long-term care and mail order pharmacy environment. The role is initially contract-to-hire with an 8-week duration before potential direct hire consideration.

Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify over-usage patterns
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements governing medication supply
- Verify appropriateness of prescribed medications for patients
- Maintain confidential patient records and manage pharmacy files with precision
- Provide clear consultation to patients on medication usage, side effects, and potential drug interactions
- Offer patient services including smoking cessation, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on the correct use of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
- Compound medications for internal or external use according to protocols
- Prepare sterile solutions following established aseptic techniques
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks, fostering a collaborative work environment
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies
- Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with healthcare providers
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacy interns, and other healthcare team members
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
- Active Texas Pharmacy license
- IV certification
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Expertise in both front-end and back-end pharmacist verification processes
- Self-directed with strong problem-solving capabilities, including IT troubleshooting
- Experience in long-term care and mail order pharmacy settings preferred
