Long Term Care Mail Order Staff Pharmacist in Milwaukee, WI

A professional opportunity is available for a licensed Pharmacist with pharmacy experience, preferably including long-term care (LTC), to support an LTC Mail Order environment. This contract-to-hire position offers the chance to apply your pharmacy expertise while working the 2nd shift.

Key Details:

• Location: Milwaukee, WI
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 1:00 pm 9:30 pm; some Saturdays required
• Duration: 8 weeks contract
• Openings: 2

Responsibilities:

• Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with regulations
• Monitor patient medication adherence and prevent over-usage
• Ensure medication supply and prescriptions comply with legal and safety standards
• Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision
• Advise and educate patients about their medications, including usage instructions and potential side effects
• Counsel patients on prescription and non-prescription drugs, addressing drug interactions and proper storage
• Provide additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
• Educate patients on correct handling of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors
• Compound medications for internal and external use, preparing sterile solutions as needed
• Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks
• Maintain adequate inventory of pharmaceuticals and supplies
• Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare providers

Qualifications:

• Active Wisconsin pharmacy license is required
• Prior pharmacy experience is essential
• Experience in long-term care settings is preferred
