Long Term Care Mail Order Staff Pharmacist in Milwaukee, WI

This position offers an opportunity to work in a long-term care (LTC) and mail order pharmacy setting, with a contract to hire arrangement. The role requires a dedicated pharmacist to work mid-shift hours from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with one weekend rotation per month, over a 13-week contract period.

Location: Milwaukee, WI
Shift: Mid shift (11:00 AM 7:30 PM), Monday to Friday, 1 weekend per month
Duration: 13 weeks contract, temp to direct hire

Key Responsibilities:

• Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications adhering to legal and safety standards.
• Monitor patient medication compliance and detect over-usage patterns to ensure safe therapy management.
• Verify the suitability of prescribed medicines to patient health conditions.
• Maintain meticulous, confidential patient records and pharmacy files.
• Provide consultation and education to patients regarding medication usage, side effects, storage, and drug interactions.
• Deliver additional patient services, including smoking cessation programs and management of blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
• Educate patients in the proper use of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications for both external and internal use and prepare sterile solutions following protocols.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and clerical staff to ensure efficient pharmacy operations.
• Manage pharmaceutical and medical inventory to maintain sufficient supply.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related issues.

Qualifications:

• Licensed pharmacist in Wisconsin.
• Experience in pharmacy practice required; long-term care (LTC) experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in sterile compounding is essential.
