Long Term Care Mail Order Staff Pharmacist - Minneapolis, MN
A professional opportunity is available for a Staff Pharmacist specializing in long-term care and mail order pharmacy services. This 13-week contract position offers variable shifts with a schedule designed to accommodate diverse hours throughout the week.
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday: Rotating shifts between 9:30 AM 6:00 PM, 10:00 AM 6:30 PM, or 11:00 AM 8:30 PM
- Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 AM 6:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal regulations.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and detect patterns of overuse.
- Ensure all prescribed medicines are appropriate and safe for patients.
- Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation with accuracy.
- Provide detailed medication counseling including administration, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation programs, blood pressure measurements, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the proper use and maintenance of medical devices like glucose monitors and blood pressure cuffs.
- Compound both sterile and non-sterile medications following established protocols.
- Supervise the pharmacy team including technicians and clerical staff, ensuring smooth operational flow.
- Manage pharmaceutical inventory and medical supply levels effectively.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers including physicians and nurses to resolve drug-related issues.
Desired Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
- Valid Minnesota Pharmacy license is mandatory.
- Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) pharmacy preferred.
- IV compounding experience is advantageous but not required.
