A hospital-based pharmacy opportunity is available for a Staff Pharmacist to support medication management within a 30-bed rehab hospital. This role focuses on inpatient care, ensuring safe and effective pharmaceutical therapy to enhance patient outcomes.

Location: Mosinee, WI
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM (hours negotiable)
Job Type: Contract to Hire, with potential for permanent placement

Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness
  • Prepare, dispense, and verify medications, including limited sterile IV compounding (no chemotherapy)
  • Monitor patient medication therapy and recommend clinical interventions based on lab values and patient condition
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication use
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, as well as state and federal regulations
  • Provide drug information and medication counseling to healthcare staff and patients
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy personnel
  • Maintain accurate documentation of interventions and patient records
  • Manage controlled substances and maintain pharmacy inventory using Wellsky and Pyxis automation systems
  • Participate in medication safety initiatives, quality assurance, and pharmacy operations activities
  • Stay current with evolving pharmacy best practices and clinical guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Active and clear Wisconsin pharmacist license required
  • Experience with IV compounding (limited) essential; chemotherapy compounding not required
  • Familiarity with inpatient hospital pharmacy operations preferred

Additional Details:

  • Weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage will be shared with the pharmacy manager
  • Pharmacy staff currently includes 2 pharmacists and 1 technician
