Staff Pharmacist - Newburgh, New York

An experienced Staff Pharmacist with expertise in behavioral health pharmacy is needed for an ongoing opportunity based in New Paltz, NY. This role involves working approximately 12 days per week with a flexible schedule, including additional coverage during pharmacist PTO and vacation periods. The position focuses on providing safe, accurate medication management and patient support in a behavioral health setting, requiring familiarity with complex medication regimens and psychiatric therapies.

Responsibilities:

• Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, dosing, potential interactions, and patient safety
• Dispense medications safely and accurately to patients
• Provide counseling and education tailored to patients on behavioral health medications
• Support patients managing complex medication therapies, ensuring adherence and continuity of care
• Collaborate with prescribers to resolve medication questions and clarify therapy concerns
• Assist with medication access challenges, including prior authorization processes
• Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation in compliance with regulations
• Provide guidance and oversight to pharmacy technicians and support staff
• Ensure adherence to New York pharmacy regulations and internal pharmacy policies

Qualifications:

• Active and clear New York Pharmacist license required
• Prior behavioral health pharmacy experience is essential
• Strong knowledge of behavioral health medications and psychiatric pharmacotherapy
• Experience managing complex medication regimens
• Excellent skills in prescription verification and patient counseling
• Effective communication and organizational abilities
• Dependable and committed to providing ongoing weekly and PTO coverage
