Inpatient IV Sterile Compounding Staff Pharmacist in Parmelee, SD

Join a dedicated healthcare team as an Inpatient Pharmacist at an Indian Health Service (IHS) facility located near Rosebud, SD. This contract role offers the opportunity to take on night shifts in a hospital setting that serves a tribal community, providing critical pharmacy services to inpatients.

Location: Approximately 3-5 hours from Rosebud, SD
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
Schedule: 12-hour shifts with a 30-minute break
Setting: Indian Health Service Hospital

Key Responsibilities:

• Review medication orders, laboratory results, vital signs, allergies, and patient charts to ensure safe and effective medication therapy
• Process and verify medication and prescription orders accurately
• Prepare intravenous (IV) admixtures and assist with inpatient medication distribution
• Counsel and educate patients on their medications to promote adherence and understanding
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, nursing staff, and pharmacy teams
• Respond to drug-therapy questions and clarify orders as necessary
• Monitor and respond to adverse drug reactions and manage emergencies appropriately
• Process refill requests and incoming outside prescriptions
• Conduct controlled-substance audits following facility protocols
• Complete all required IHS training and maintain thorough documentation

Qualifications:

• Active South Dakota Pharmacist license
• Experience in inpatient hospital pharmacy
• Preference given to candidates with Indian Health Service or Tribal Health experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proficiency in IV admixture preparation
• Comfortable using electronic health records and pharmacy information systems
• Valid U.S. drivers license
• Immunization certification if responsible for administering vaccines
