Inpatient IV Sterile Compounding Staff Pharmacist - Paterson, New Jersey

A 10-week contract opportunity is available for a Pharmacist specializing in home infusion pharmacy services. This role operates Monday through Friday, primarily from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with occasional extensions until 7:00 PM based on business demands. The position requires a professional skilled in sterile compounding and hospital or home infusion pharmacy environments.

Key responsibilities include performing final medication checks, lab reviews, and documentation. The Pharmacist will accept and dispense prescription medications, monitor patient medication adherence and ensure compliance with legal regulations regarding medication supply. The role involves assessing medication suitability for patients and maintaining confidential, accurate patient records. Providing consultation and education on medication usage, side effects, dosage, and potential drug interactions is essential, along with offering additional patient services such as smoking cessation programs, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.

The Pharmacist will also instruct patients on the proper use and maintenance of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters. Compounding medications and preparing sterile solutions following established protocols are critical duties. Supervising pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks, managing inventory, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to address drug-related concerns are also integral to this position.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required
• Licensed to practice pharmacy in New Jersey
• Experience in home infusion or hospital pharmacy settings
• Sterile compounding experience strongly preferred
• Strong communication and supervisory skills
