Staff Pharmacist - Poughkeepsie, NY

An experienced pharmacist is needed for a behavioral health pharmacy supporting patients with complex medication needs. This position requires expertise in behavioral health prescriptions, patient counseling, and medication management within a flexible schedule arrangement.

Location: New Paltz, NY
Job Type: Contract (Ongoing)
Schedule:

• Approximately 12 days per week
• Flexible scheduling
• Additional coverage for pharmacist PTO and vacation as needed

Responsibilities

• Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, dosing, interactions, and patient safety
• Dispense medications accurately and ensure proper storage and handling
• Provide comprehensive medication counseling and education tailored to behavioral health patients
• Collaborate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions and address therapy concerns
• Assist patients in medication adherence and continuity of care
• Manage medication access issues, including prior authorizations when applicable
• Maintain precise pharmacy records and documentation
• Oversee and guide pharmacy technicians and support staff in daily operations
• Ensure compliance with all relevant New York pharmacy regulations and policies

Qualifications

• Active and clear New York Pharmacist license
• Proven experience in behavioral health pharmacy essential
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications and complex medication regimens
• Skilled in prescription verification and patient counseling
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Reliable and available for ongoing weekly shifts and coverage during PTO periods
