Hospital Retail Staff Pharmacist | Prairieville, Louisiana

This opportunity is for a seasoned Pharmacist specializing in Medication Therapy Management (MTM) within a specialty MTM environment. The role focuses on a 13-week contract-to-hire engagement, offering the potential for direct hire. Candidates must have strong experience in pharmacy operations, including retail and hospital settings, and hold an active Louisiana Pharmacist license plus multiple other state licenses.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and dispense medication orders following physician requests and established protocols.
• Interpret and transcribe prescriptions into accurate computerized patient medication profiles.
• Maintain comprehensive and precise pharmacy patient records.
• Dispense pharmaceuticals and controlled substances, adhering to legal requirements.
• Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and dosing appropriateness.
• Identify and report adverse drug reactions promptly.
• Provide clinical consultation to healthcare providers and suggest cost-effective therapeutic alternatives.
• Document clinical activities and interventions thoroughly.
• Participate in quality improvement and medication use review activities.
• Supervise pharmacy support personnel and oversee daily operations to ensure timely pharmacy services.
• Conduct inspections of medication storage areas and manage inventory effectively.
• Communicate professionally with patients and healthcare team members.

Qualifications:

• Current Louisiana Pharmacist license required.
• Minimum of 5 additional active pharmacist licenses from the following states: Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, New Jersey, Iowa, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, Arkansas, Kansas, Maine, Montana, Oklahoma, Virginia, Wyoming.
• Prior experience in retail or hospital pharmacy.
• Commitment to obtaining a minimum of 10 additional state licenses (beyond Louisiana) within 18 months.
