Retail Hospital Staff Pharmacist - Prairieville, Louisiana

This position offers a unique opportunity for a licensed pharmacist specializing in Medication Therapy Management within a specialty MTM environment. The role is contract to hire, initially for a 13-week period with potential for extension or permanent placement.

Location: Prairieville, LA

Schedule/Hours:

• 8.5-hour shift with a 30-minute lunch
• Typical start time between 7:00 and 8:30 a.m. CT
• Shift based on candidates remote location

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and dispense medications according to physician orders and established protocols
• Interpret and accurately transcribe verbal and written prescriptions into patient medication profiles
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate pharmacy patient records
• Dispense pharmaceuticals precisely, including controlled substances with proper record-keeping
• Monitor drug therapies for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriate dosing
• Identify and report adverse drug reactions promptly
• Provide clinical consultation and therapeutic alternatives to medical staff
• Document all clinical activities and interventions thoroughly
• Participate in quality improvement, medication use review, and inspection activities
• Supervise pharmacy support personnel and verify their work
• Manage timely pharmacy service delivery through organization and prioritization
• Conduct medication storage area inspections and manage outdated drug replacements
• Respond professionally to telephone and counter requests

Qualifications:

• Active pharmacist licensure in Louisiana (required)
• Prior retail or hospital pharmacy experience
• Licensure in multiple states highly preferred:
  • Highest priority: Indiana (IN), Pennsylvania (PA), Connecticut (CT), Wyoming (WY)
  • Additional preference: California (CA), Minnesota (MN), Missouri (MO), New Mexico (NM), South Carolina (SC), Georgia (GA)
