A hospital-owned retail pharmacy seeks a dedicated pharmacist to lead daily operations at a community-focused location in Buckeye, WV. This 12-week contract role offers a unique opportunity to practice pharmacy within a welcoming environment that includes both a gift shop and coffee shop, enhancing the patient and visitor experience.

Location: Buckeye, WV
Schedule: 2 days per week (preferably Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but flexible)
Shift: 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM (10-hour shift with a 30-minute lunch)
Setting: Hospital-owned retail pharmacy
Volume: Approximately 4,000 prescriptions per month
Software: Pioneer RX (training provided if needed)

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct pharmacy technicians and staff pharmacists, ensuring efficient and safe pharmacy operations
  • Verify, dispense, and assure the accurate distribution of medications
  • Manage retail pharmacy inventory, maintaining proper medication stock and formulary compliance
  • Maintain strict adherence to controlled substance handling and documentation requirements
  • Administer and ensure compliance with the 340B program
  • Manage pharmacy billing processes, including claims submission and reconciliation
  • Utilize EHR and pharmacy systems with accuracy (training provided)
  • Support operational workflow and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Administer immunizations as part of patient care services

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active and clear pharmacy license in West Virginia
  • Experience with Pioneer RX software preferred
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Pharmacy; PharmD preferred but not mandatory
  • Current CPR certification and active immunization certification
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills essential
