Mail Order Long Term Care Staff Pharmacist in Saint Paul, MN
A contract position is available for a Staff Pharmacist specializing in Long Term Care (LTC) and Mail Order pharmacy services, offering variable shifts to provide flexibility. This opportunity spans 13 weeks and requires a dedicated professional to support patient care and medication management within a regulated pharmacy environment.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday: Shifts vary weekly between 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM, 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM, and 11:00 AM - 8:30 PM
- Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications following legal and safety standards.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify patterns of over-usage.
- Ensure prescribed medications are appropriate and safe for patients.
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy files.
- Advise patients on proper medication use, potential side effects, and address their questions.
- Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage and drug interactions.
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation counseling, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications, including sterile preparations, adhering to established protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies effectively.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to identify and resolve drug-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree is required.
- Valid Minnesota Pharmacy license.
- Experience in Long Term Care pharmacy is highly preferred.
- IV compounding experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
