Long Term Care Staff Pharmacist in Slippery Rock, PA

A long-term care pharmacist opportunity is available on a contract-to-hire basis, with a three-month initial assignment. This role is suited for a licensed pharmacist who is experienced in serving skilled nursing facilities, personal care facilities, and hospice patients. The position demands accuracy, clinical knowledge, and effective communication within a fast-paced environment.

Location: Slippery Rock, PA
Schedule:

• 40 hours per week
• Pharmacy Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM 6:00 PM
• Saturday 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
• Sunday 8:00 AM 3:00 PM

Responsibilities:

• Review and verify medication orders entered by data entry technicians for multiple care settings including skilled nursing and hospice.
• Inspect blister-packed medications as well as sterile and non-sterile preparations to ensure accuracy and safety.
• Respond promptly to calls from nursing facilities, hospice nurses, and physicians, providing clinical expertise as needed.
• Count and document controlled substances accurately in the perpetual inventory system.
• Monitor and replenish emergency medication boxes regularly.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Pharmacy
• Active pharmacist license in Pennsylvania, in good standing
• Minimum of one year pharmacy experience; long-term care experience preferred
• Proficient with QS1, Docutrack, and PCC operating systems
• Ability to perform duties requiring sitting, standing, fine motor skills, visual acuity, and lift up to 30 pounds
