Mail Order Long Term Care Staff Pharmacist - Washington, NC

A pharmacy role is available for a skilled pharmacist to serve in a contract-to-hire capacity for approximately 15 weeks, with the opportunity for direct hire. This position offers daytime hoursMonday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pmwith occasional Saturdays required during the same hours. The work environment includes both Long Term Care (LTC) and mail order pharmacy settings.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications.
• Monitor patient medication compliance and detect patterns of over-usage.
• Ensure all medication supplies comply with legal standards.
• Verify the suitability of prescribed medicines for patients.
• Maintain confidential records to ensure proper management of patient and pharmacy files.
• Counsel patients regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and answer relevant questions.
• Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription drugs including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
• Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on the use and handling of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions while maintaining proper procedures.
• Supervise pharmacy staff including pharmacy technicians and clerks.
• Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory.
• Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with healthcare providers.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacy interns, and other pharmacists.

Qualifications:

• Valid North Carolina pharmacy license.
• Pharmacy experience required; experience in Long Term Care is a significant plus.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication and supervisory skills.
