A full-time opportunity is available for a Pharmacist in an environment that combines Long Term Care (LTC) and Mail Order pharmacy services. This position offers a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with some Saturdays also from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The assignment duration is 13 weeks, with a strong potential for direct hire upon successful completion.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications, ensuring patient safety and compliance.
  • Monitor patient medication adherence and identify any patterns of overuse.
  • Ensure all medication supplies comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify the suitability of prescribed medications for patients.
  • Maintain confidential, precise patient medication records and pharmacy documentation.
  • Provide detailed counseling to patients regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and answer their questions.
  • Offer consultation on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosage, storage, side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Deliver additional services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on proper use of medical devices, including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications, including preparing sterile solutions, following strict protocols.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks, ensuring efficient pharmacy operations.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and other healthcare professionals to address patient drug-related issues.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy experience with a strong understanding of dispensing and medication management.
  • Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) pharmacy settings is highly advantageous.
  • Current and valid pharmacy license for North Carolina.
