LTC Mail Order Staff Pharmacist - Weaverville, North Carolina

An opportunity is available for a skilled pharmacist to support a long-term care and mail order pharmacy environment. This position offers a contract to hire arrangement with a 13-week duration initially, working four 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday. Shift options include 9:00 am to 7:00 pm or 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, providing a consistent schedule focused on patient care and medication management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications while adhering to legal requirements.
• Monitor patient medication compliance and detect patterns of over-usage.
• Ensure prescribed medications are appropriate for individual patient needs.
• Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision.
• Counsel patients regarding medication usage, side effects, drug interactions, and answer related questions.
• Offer additional patient services including smoking cessation, blood pressure, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on the correct use and maintenance of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications for internal and external use and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols.
• Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
• Manage inventory to maintain adequate pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
• Identify drug-related problems and collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience.
• Experience in Long Term Care and Mail Order pharmacy settings is highly advantageous.
• Sterile compounding experience preferred.
• Current North Carolina pharmacy license required.
