Hospital Inpatient Staff Pharmacist in Winslow, AZ
An inpatient hospital in Winslow, Arizona, is seeking a skilled pharmacist to provide ongoing coverage 24 days per week, supporting pharmacy operations in a dynamic clinical setting. This contract position focuses on inpatient medication management and close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy staff to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Pharmacy Hours: 6:30 AM 4:30 PM daily
Training: Provided during the last two weeks of July

Key Responsibilities
- Verify inpatient medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and safety
- Review medication dosages considering allergies, interactions, and organ function adjustments
- Enter and process orders using Cerner electronic health records
- Manage medications within Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets and troubleshoot issues
- Review and monitor antibiotic therapy, including vancomycin dosing
- Provide clinical recommendations and answer medication-related inquiries from clinical teams
- Support medication reconciliation and adherence to formulary protocols
- Assist with inventory management and controlled substance oversight
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, pharmacy standards, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Active Arizona Pharmacist license in good standing
- Prior experience in inpatient or hospital pharmacy practice required
- Proficient with Cerner and Pyxis systems preferred
- Knowledgeable in inpatient medication dosing and clinical pharmacy practices
- Experience with vancomycin dosing and monitoring is a plus
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Availability to complete training during the last two weeks of July
